Despite the winter weather It’s been a consistent week of fishing. Redfish, Snook, Sea Trout, and black drum have been chewing good. We have been focusing our attention in the far back creeks and bays looking for points and deeper holes with current. Jigs are still working the best (gulps or DOA’s) & with the cooler water just remember to work them slow. More cold fronts are on the way so I will stick to my game plan and stay in the calm waters far in the backcountry off the beaten path .

The inshore action is heating up! Water temps are in the lower 60s and with these cooler temps the sea tout are on the move onto the flats and edges of the islands. We are concentrating on patchy bottom and areas where there is a slight change in bottom depth. Artificial shrimp patterns(gulps) have been working best also a Cajun thunder with a DOA shrimp are deadly combos that always produce. Don’t be surprised this time of year while your trout fishing if you bump right smack into some schooling pompano. Enjoy the great weather and get out there and get yah some.
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 We have had some beautiful cool starts to our mornings. Winds have been low which has allowed the water in the backcountry to clean up. Sea trout, black drum, redfish and sheep head have all been on our hit list. Artificial's have been working great & shrimp tipped jigs working slowly in the deeper holes have been very effective in getting constant action all day long. Weather should remain stable all week so looking forward to some fun winter time fishing .
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Temps have been above normal for this time of year & have really turned on the fishing. Live bait(pilchards) are still nowhere to be found so still soaking shrimp in the backcountry with great results. Sea trout, sheep head, black drum, snook & redfish have been plentiful inshore. We have been concentrating on points and shorelines with current & using a piece or a whole shrimp with a 1/2oz lead to get the baits on the bottom. These fish are roaming the current rips looking for food and once they get a smell of that shrimp it’s game on !!
