Naples and Marco island fishing continues to produce great inshore action. Big snook are starting to move into the near shore islands. My favorite method to getting these big snook out of there hiding spots is a well placed cast with a big live bait (pilchard). I like to beef up my leaded line to 40lb this time of year as these big fish once hooked will tend to head right for the bushes. Redfish have been mixed in with the snook so be ready for anything. This week most of my redfish action has been on the higher incoming tides. These fish have been really close to the Mangroves so make sure to get you baits as tight to the cover as you can . If you are Successful in catching allot of live bait don’t hesitate to chum heavy to bring these game fish out of the hiding spots. Not only will this get them and other species of fish feeding but it will speed up your fishing action. See u on the water !!!

The inshore/backcountry fishing around Naples & Marco island has been nothing short of stellar.
This week Snook , redfish , sea trout have all been on the hit list. Sea trout have been spawning so most of these big fish will be full of eggs. Make sure to take Extra care in releasing these big females as the will produce tons more babies for ya to catch down the road. I have been using big live baits(pilchard) to get these bigger fish to come off the bottom & explode on the surface. Snook and redfish have been hanging tight to the mangroves. It very important to make a accurate cast to the shoreline pockets and overhangs as there fish will be slow crushing looking for an easy meal. Take advantage of these nice comfortable weather days and get out and Get Yah Some !! Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 March has been flying by with some outstanding backcountry/inshore action . This month around the Naples and Marco island area , I always see the gulf waters temps warming and this kicks in the sea trout spawn . Look for these fish to be staging around current rips and eddy’s . A live bait with a split-shot (to get it down to the bottom )will insure a hard strike . Make sure to take special care when releasing these fish as most of them are full of eggs. Snook and redfish have also been right in the mix so be ready for anything . Pompano have been showing up on the strong incoming tides. Drift with the current and cast 1/4oz( chartreuse or pink) tube jig tipped with a chunk of shrimp. These are some of the most tastiest fish in the gulf, so take what you need for the grill and release the rest catch another day. C u on the water !!!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Inshore/backcountry fishing around the Naples & Marco area has been producing non stop action! Out fishery is weather driven so if you see temps in the 80s and winds 5-10 you know that the fish are firing. This week Snook,Tarpon,Redfish & Sea trout have all been targets . Another great thing about the backcountry is that all these fish hangout together so with any cast you can catch any of these great game fish . March tends to be the windy month with strong NE to SE winds & with gulf temps warming , look for game fish around the outer islands . Live bait(pilchards) are always king and makes for a very exciting day on the water !
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Great weather = Great Fishing!!
It’s been picture perfect here in the Naples and Marco island area with highs in the 80s. The outer islands and backcountry have been producing great fishing action. Snook and redfish have been prevalent in most spots we have been hitting. Live bait(pilchards) has been the go to for drawing these bigger fish out of hiding. I like a 2/0 j-hook attaching that to a 2ft piece of 40lb leader. Make sure your drags are set on the tighter side as these big fish Will always head straight for the cover. We have also been catching big sea trout and jacks that have all been mixed In . South Florida has the warmest temps in the country now so make sure you get on the water and enjoy this playground.
