This week has been more if the same. Early morning starts with a ride offshore to load up on big live baits, then off to the backcountry. Some bigger snook have moved in. They have been tight lipped due to moon phase/tides/ water quality, who really knows. I know one thing that they have to eat eventually. Have to stay persistent and keep putting your baits in there area and before long it’s FISH ON. Sea trout are all over the outside islands. A live bait pinned to the bottom with a split shot or knocker rig will get you some bites .

Fishing remains consistent. Snook & trout are all over the beaches and outside islands. Live bait has been the best way to catch a bunch of fish . Artificial baits can also make for a fun day. Top water plugs (Zara spooks -chug bugs or soft plastics are very productive lures to use all year long. Pompano and tarpon are also roaming the beaches. Sunny mornings make for a great sight fishing experience. It’s best to get out early to beat the heat and the afternoon thunderstorms.
Capt. Tim Daugherty Naples Inshore Fishing Charters Great weather is finally back. The gulf water is clean and clear. This makes for great sight fishing opportunities. In the summer months snook ,sea trout & pompano cruse our outer islands. You can bet if you trolling motor down some of our local beaches you will schools of fish slow swimming. Live bait is always preferred but a small mirror lure can also entice a strike. For my fly fishermen a small clouser (white/olive) or a gummy fly will get yah some strikes. This summertime weather looks to be settling in. Best bet is to hit it hard in the morning and get off the water before the afternoon rains get yah.
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Despite the wet gloomy weather the fishing continues to remain productive. Snook and trout are still on the outer islands and beaches. Live pilchards or thread-fin herring are preferred baits but live shrimp will also produce. Pompano bite has been good on the incoming tides when the clean water makes its way in. Sharks are abundant and make for a great battle on light tackle gear . With the weather finally clearing the fishing will start to heat up again.
