It’s been a sight fisherman’s dream as big snook have been loaded up on the beaches and around the inshore islands. I have been fishing my clients around the Naples and Marco island areas looking for snook, redfish, tarpon, sea trout, pompano and big jacks. The weather has been perfect with steady winds out if the East and gin clear gulf waters. With a live well full of bait fish (pilchards) you can expect to put big numbers of fish to the boat. My favorite rig is a simple with 2 ft piece of 40lb mono leader attached to 15lb braided line(main line) with a 1/0 J-hook. That’s All you need to Get in on the action . See you on the water!!!!!

Summer time in Naples and Marco island offers some of the best sight fishing opportunities around. Weather has been just perfect with light winds in the mornings and this allows the gulf waters to settle and get really clear. We have been stalking snook, jacks, redfish up and down the beaches in only a few feet of water. Once we have spotted fish cruising we maneuver the boat into position to make the best cast, always making sure to lead our targets by a few feet. The connection of spotting the fish then watching that fish inhale your bait will insure to get your heart pumping. Live bait(pilchards) have been our go to baits but these fish will take flys and hard baits (mirror lures) if put in the right spots . Get out and enjoy this great fishery. C u out there !!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 The inshore and backcountry fishing around the Naples and Marco island areas continues to produce great action. All of our gamefish (snook , sea trout, redfish, tarpon ) have been on the hit list. I have been fishing near creeks and river mouths where there is good current flow. There are small baits Pods all over the beaches and when the tides are flowing they push all the bait back and fourth through theses rivers . Fish are congregating to take advantage of the bait fish buffet . Live bait is always the best bet in getting big numbers of fish to the boat but it’s always a blast to throw some top water (artificials) at first light. See you on the water !!!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Another strong week of backcountry and inshore fishing in Naples and Marco island areas. Both places have been producing some great summertime action. Snook, sea trout, redfish, and mangrove snapper have all been on the hit list. Hurricane Isaias had no effect on the west coast of Florida so we had some great weather to get out on the water. This weeks morning falling tides have been lit up with some great snook action. We have been pitching live baits(pilchards) around fallen structure with a steady current on them. Just be ready for that hard thump and that drag to scream. Get out of the house and go get ya some!!! See ya out there
