Naples & Marco island have been producing some great fishing action. Tarpon , jacks, sea trout, redfish & snook have been around in the backcountry's deeper holes and if the tide is timed just right u can enjoy some high flying action. The southern end of Naples, Fl is where the 10,000 islands start. Its maze of islands which offers some of the best light tackle fishing in the world. The islands continue onto south past macro island and down through the Everglades national park & into Florida bay. It’s not uncommon while fishing these areas to not see another boat all day. Look for fishing action to improve as our weather stabilizes. Stay tuned as the action will be heating up.

We are back to stable weather and the fishing is heating up. Snook, jacks, sea trout & tarpon are moving out of the back country and heading to the beaches to feed. Schools of glass minnows & thread fin herring have invaded the outer islands. This big push of bait fish will have the predator species staging up to fill there faces with food. It’s been really cool every morning as the sun is rising to see snook and tarpon blowing up on these bait fish. Just remember A well placed cast close to the mangroves will insure you get one of these Game fish to come out and play.
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Our fishery has remained solid with warm weather upon us. Strong east winds have kept the Gulf of Mexico calm and clean & with this great weather our game fish tend to group up. It’s not uncommon to find all species of fish (snook, sea trout, jacks, snapper, tarpon, red fish) stacked up on one shoreline. It’s important to have your live well packed full of pilchard(shiners) to insure the action stays hot through the day. A Cold front is here today with a 20degree drop in temps so its looking like back(winter pattern) to soaking live shrimp for a few days. Time to get back on the hunt. Hope to see you out there !
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 The snook bite has remained on fire with some bigger fish starting to show up around the islands. Sea trout have thinned out a bit but we are still catching good numbers. Big live bait (threds/pilchards) is the ticket to getting these big fish to eat. I have been concentrating on the big schools of glass minnows(bait fish) that have invaded the passes and outside islands. Look for pelicans diving or fish in a feeding frenzy & you will most certainly find the game fish. Till next time. Tight lines !
