Finally the nice weather is here. Slight drop in humidity has our mornings feeling just perfect. Despite the cooler temps, Naples & Marco island fishing has been really heating up. It’s been nonstop action with schools of jacks and snook just about everywhere you go. The Mangrove snapper bite is still great with the high incoming tides. Live bait is everywhere from the beaches to the offshore piles. A few throws of the cast net in the mornings will fill your live wells, then is off to the backcountry for a tight line!!! Capt. The water around Naples Florida and Marco Island are teaming with fish. Snook and redfish have been our main targets. This week with the full moon tides its been really low in the mornings. This low water pulls the fish from deep in the cover, to the tips of the structure or drop offs. I have been concentrating on shorelines that have current and lots bait. I always say “Find the food find the fish” and that’s been the trick these past few weeks.
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 It’s been a solid week of fishing up till the arrival of Hurricane Dorian on the east coast. We were spared this time with a hard turn to the North but the Bahamas islands were not. My heart and prayers go out to the all the families that that had to go through such a monster of a hurricane. Theses big weather systems cause the pressure to drop and the fish seem to go crazy. The Naples and Marco island bite remained on fire with snook, redfish, mangrove snapper, jacks and sea trout. Winds will be out of the west for a few days as Dorian makes her move up the east coast of Fl . Look for east winds to return by the end of the week & fishing conditions to improve.
