South Florida Red Hot summer temperatures have the inshore fishing just as Hot! The higher incoming tides around the Naples and Marco island areas have been producing some great redfish action . I am finding these fish tight to the bushes so a well placed cast is needed to get these fish out of the shade . It’s always my favorite to chum up a spot eve before we begin to fish it. Nothing crazy but 20 baits chummed in the areas we are fishing will not only get the action going but will tell me who’s home.
Snook are right in the mix so be ready for anything . There are still sea trout around so as your baits swim off the shoreline give it a minute to draw one up from the depths . These fish like to hang off in the deeper water with current , so if you see your bait motoring on the surface be ready for that trout to be close behind . If you’re looking for a great fish to take home for the grill mangrove snapper is my favorite. All summer these fish are plentiful so come out and get yah some <•{{{{{>< !!! C u on the water . Capt. May inshore fishing is in full swing. In the Naples and Marco island areas we have been catching Snook, Redfish , Tarpon & mangrove snappers to name a few . Always my first priority at sun rise is to secure a well full of baitfish (pilchards). Some mornings it’s harder to catch the bait than it is the game fish we are targeting but it’s essential to an action packed day of fishing . In the back bays we have been targeting redfish on the higher incoming tides.
The key it’s to stick and move down a shoreline till you find them . Typically you find one you will find a bunch schooling up . Chumming heavy with live baits will speed up your bite and get these fish out of hiding . I always say “Action brings Action “. Snook & snapper are also in the mix so be ready for anything . The water on the beach’s has been gin clear so finding some targets (snook ) to cast at has been an absolute blast . Looks to be a great weekend to get out on the water and enjoy this great playground ! Tight lines!!! Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 This week inshore fishing has been outstanding. Naples and Marco Island have been producing some great snook action . Winds have been East allowing our gulf waters settle & get gin clear. This makes for great sight, fishing opportunities along our beaches and islands. As always live bait (pilchards) are the best baits around for getting these big snook out of hiding . Midmorning incoming tides I have switched gears from the beaches and outer islands to bays with shorlines that’s have good cover. We have been finding redfish and snook on them as long as the tide is still coming in.
It seems that certain sections of shoreline paired with the incoming tides have been the ticket to some great red fishing . I like to pull up to these spots and before I even cast I like to chum with 20 0r so live baits . If there’s any fish around, they will most certainly come out and see what’s the commotion is all about. This is the perfect time to fire your bait tight to the shoreline and wait for that line to jump . This coming week should be more of the same with high pressure weather settling in . Still Looking for a water temps to get into the 80s & this should really jumpstart our tarpon action. What a great time of the year to be inshore fishing. Hope everybody has a great rest of their week. Look forward to seeing y’all on the water. Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 |
