Afternoon temps are back in the upper 70s but Cool nights are still keeping our water temperatures low which means we are still in a wintertime pattern. Sea trout, black drum, redfish, snapper and small juvenile tarpon have been our main targets. I have been using artificial baits instead of live shrimp as to cover as much water as possible. This type of fishing we are searching for fish and once located we can focus our cast to where the fish are staging up to feed. Look for the snook fishing to pick back up as afternoon temps are in the rise!!!

Good steady action this past week with small snook, jacks, black drum and an abundance of nice size sea trout. Jigs were working best in the deeper holes and around the grass flats. 3/8oz gulps or any good shrimp imitation soft plastic work the best. A Cold front is moving in tonight with some windy conditions for the next few days. This is no worry’s for me as the backcountry offers endless calm bays and creeks with which to hide from these conditions. Time to layer up and enjoy some cooler sunny conditions!
Capt. Tim Daugherty Naples Fishing Charters www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Cold fronts have been coming just about every week now & it’s time to move into the deeper backcountry to find cleaner water. Sea trout and redfish have been out main targets with black drum / sheep head & snapper mixed in. Artificial shrimp (gulps) have been working great as search baits to find where these fish are hiding. When you find a few make sure you take your time & methodically cast around to locate the schools. The name of the game is to stick and move till you locate the action. See yah out there!!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Cooler water temps have us dialing down our presentation and focusing on sea trout & redfish. Artificial shrimp have been killing it on a 3/8oz jig head slow worked through the deeper backcountry holes and pockets. Redfish have been chewing good on the lady fish chunks on the incoming tides around the oyster bar points. This weekend looks to be some perfect weather, so get out and get yah some!
