Just want to start by saying Hope everyone & there families are safe & healthy. My local anglers, that have been able to get out and enjoy some social distancing have been treated to some great fishing opportunities. Naples and Marco islands inshore and backcountry fishing this time of year is as good as it gets. Big snook are in abundance cruising the fallen trees looking for an easy meal. I have been using big pilchards(live bait) To get these bigger fish to come out from there hiding spots. Seatrout and redfish are also mixed in the fun. If you’re into throwing artificial’s then get up early and at sunrise throw some top waters (Zara spooks , skitter walks). Nothing beats a top water explosion as the suns just breaking the horizon. Tarpon have also been in the mix with some smaller juveniles tucked away in the deeper holes. I really look forward to seeing everybody soon. Tight lines!!!!!!

Marco Island and Naples Florida inshore and backcountry fishing remains on fire. The name of the game is to get out early and beat the heat. Snook and redfish have been cruising the shallow waters in search of an easy meal. I have been using big pilchards & thread fin herring to get these fish active. I find the bigger baits this time of year tend to attract the bigger fish due to the amount of vibration they put off in the water. For my fly fishermen I have been going to a top water gurgler first thing in the morning at low light . There is nothing better than watching a fish rise up and take your fly off the surface of the water. We have been having some strong South winds but look later this week for winds to die off and tarpon to be cruising down our beaches. Hope everybody is healthy and safe look forward to seeing you on the water!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 The waters around Marco Island & Naples Florida are quiet but the fishing remains active ! I have been out with my local clients enjoying some social distancing & the solitude that our inshore fishery offers . All of our top game fish (tarpon , snook , sea trout & redfish ) have been on the hit list . These fish have been moving from the backcountry out towards the beaches and passes in search of an easy meal . I have been having great success fishing the troughs that run down our beaches . I am looking for fish cruising the shallows and once found I stay far enough out to fire a live bait at them. It’s a fun challenge to make a good cast and your rewarded with a visual attack on your bait . Hope every body is safe and I am looking forward to seeing you all reel soon !! <•{{{{{><
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Despite all the covid-19 issues we are all facing, it’s been nice to get on the water & get away from the world and of course pull on some nice fish. Naples & Marco island continue to produce some outstanding inshore fishing. The backcountry has been red hot with some smaller tarpon in the deep holes . Look for a low incoming tide and bounce from spot to spot till you see rolling fish . Once found stay as far off them as you can & make long casts . Live bait( pilchards/ threds) have been working to perfection. If artificials are what you enjoy throwing check out spooltek lures. I’ve been having great success on the bigger Tarpon & It’s a great search bait to slow roll through the strike zone . Snook and redfish have been around the middle islands. Look for current coming out of creeks or small rivers that roll down a shoreline . These fish will be staging up looking for a quick meal . If you’re in town and looking to get out and enjoy some social distancing, please don’t hesitate to give me a call and I’ll be happy to put you on the fish.
