Nothing beats the solitude of backcountry, with its endless opportunities. In the Naples and Marco Island areas it’s a short ride into the labyrinth of mangroves island where our gamefish call home. I always start my mornings with loading up my live-well with nice hardy live baits. These baits are what I call backcountry gold! Summer is in full effect and gulf temperatures are warm & this is perfect climate to target loads of snook. Redfish to are showing up in good numbers and are hanging right with the snook. A good cast close to the mangroves will get your heart racing as either game fish could exploded on your bait at any time. Be ready to set that hook and the fight is on! Get out there and get M!

In Naples and Marco Island snook and redfish have been on the hit list this week. The morning falling tides have been great for some red hot snook action. On the outside points, pods of small baitfish and birds are in abundance just about everywhere you looks. These areas are where I have been setting up to intercept the snook that are cruising the shallows looking for a meal . On the incoming tides redfish and mangrove snapper are showing up in good numbers. Chum heavy to get the action going!!!! Go get M!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 Starting to see good numbers of redfish showing up in the Naples and Marco Island area. Tides have been higher in the mornings so it’s very important to make sure your cast are as close to the bushes as possible! Live pilchards are still the go to bait for both redfish, snook and any other game fish that might be swimming by. Mangrove snapper fishing has been on fire on both incoming and outgoing tides. A 4ft piece of 15lb fluorocarbon attached to a 1/0 J hook is how we get it done. Chum heavy to draw out the big boys and just keep casting those live baits into the feeding frenzy. Go Get M!!!!!
Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138 In Naples and Marco island we are finding snook and snapper everywhere from the beaches to the backcountry. Mangrove snapper are some of the tastiest fish in the gulf & these hot summer months are the best times to bring some great fish to the grill. Snook are big numbers on our beaches and outer islands. I chum heavy to get all fish in the area in somewhat of a feeding frenzy . A well placed cast to these feeding fish will insure a hard strike. Look for these snook to go straight to the air in a series of high flying jumps. I always love me some summer time fishing!
