Red hot fishing in Naples and Marco island continues to Produce some great winter time fishing. It blows my mind how this time of year are fishery goes crazy when we get some consistent good weather. With cold fronts still coming in just about every week we have a window of nice weather , usually three or four days where the fishing really heats up. Snook and redfish have been our main targets. Live bait is always preferred but a shrimp on a jig head can be just as deadly if put in the right place. We have been concentrating on creeks and rivers close to the gulf with good strong current. I like to position my boat bow into the current and fish the shoreline in sections. I would have to say my most important tool other than my Suzuki engine is my Minnkota trolling motor. This tool allows me to get my anglers directly parallel to the structure and methodically cast baits in every nook and cranny . With just a simple push of a Button I am able to drop back 30 yards And start fishing a whole new pile of fish. It’s power fishing at its finest. Get out and enjoy some of this great weather.
