Last weeks backcountry and inshore fishing was on point, with big numbers of snook and redfish on the line. October is always one of my favorite months to target red fish around Naples and Marco island. I really focus on islands they have a lot of bird activity. This is due to the amount of small bait fish they get pushed in with the Tides. Station your boat just off where you see the tiny ripples of small bait fish & cast some live bait(pilchards/ mullet) directly to that Shoreline. Also at times I like to get my bait down to the bottom so I use a small split shot to get underneath the bait pods. snook ,snapper and big jacks will also be mixed in So be ready for the drag to start screaming. Do to the “new moon” phase we are in, tides Have been strong so make sure you find an island or Shoreline that doesn’t have too much current on it or the fish will be so deep in the cover you will not be able to reach them. It’s all about finding that shoreline that has that magic recipe. When you find it you’ll know ;)
