It’s been one of the hottest summers I can remember and finally we have been treated to some cooler weather. The Naples and Marco Island inshore fishing has been on point with snook and redfish bring our main targets . This time of year usually brings in schools of Redfish that like to make the backcountry their winter home. We have been having high falling tides all last week, which was perfect for finding these redfish piled up . Most have been on the smaller size 14-17in but the have been some good ones mixed in . Snook are still over over the beaches and backcountry but finding the bigger sizes on the nearshore wrecks.
Baitfish ,Pilchards & herring have been loaded up on the beaches and with a few cast of the net your well is blacked out . We are having our first cold front pushing through today so look for a slight drop in temps and the bite to tapper off for a few days. Our fishery likes stability so when these fronts make it down us you can expect and change in wind direction and our game fish to lay low for a few days till high pressure settles back in. Get out and enjoy these cooler temps !! C U on the water! Capt. Tim Daugherty www.fishthesalt.com (239) 280-8138
